Hello everyone, I have been offered a Francis Bacon baby grand piano for 500 dollars. According to the seller, it was purchased in the '50s and restored about 20 years later. The piano has not been tuned in 15 to 20 years, so it will most likely need a pitch raise and tuning. There are a couple of sticky keys but it doesn't look like there are any missing parts. Can anyone advise whether this is a good buy?

This wasn't a good piano, even when it was new. Now it's 65 years old and neglected!
I know budget is a concern, but your candidates for purchase seem to be getting worse with every new post.

Free would be too expensive on this piano. When a piano like this has been neglected the past due maintenance will exceed the value of the piano.
So to answer your question directly: no, I don't think it's a good buy.

Your other option would be to have a technician look at it - but I agree with the other posts that it is likely to be a financial burden. 15-20 years of neglect won't be corrected with a single tuning - more likely many tunings and services.

Pass on it and keep looking. This thing sounds like a turd. If this is your budget range, go digital and save yourself the headache.
