Hi
I played I Giorni by Ludovico Eiundudi a fantastic piece of music and a modern take on classical I find.
I am also practicing I want to know what love is on keyboards to accompany my choir at our concert on Saturday.

This a.m. Sight read thru Bach two-part Invention No. 1, reviewed Scarlatti K 141.

Discovered Busoni editions of the Bach Inventions and Sinfonias with ornaments written out and fingering included. I will be working these now. I think these works will be very educational in many ways.

Isabelle,

So......at young age you played 'trois mains'...... grin

Thank you and RaggedKeyPresser for your comments. Yes, indeed it was a very nice afternoon in the church. And cool...this week temperatures in West-Europe are about 35C (=95F)........so an big old church is nice to be...... grin

2 July
Tonight only played for one hour........
Mozart, Fantasy in D minor
Bach, Air (part3) from Pastorale BWV 590
Schumann, four Waldszenen
Händel, Keyboard suites G minor and E minor

Johan B

Johann that's great!

Traumerei is the first piece I played on my grand piano. It was a dream come true.

Today sight read some of a Bach Minuet (not sure which one), practiced the Scarlatti and gave the Beethoven Op. 14, no. 2, 1st mvt. A try. I think I am going to have to leave the Beethoven in the past and just move forward. So frustrating not being able to play what I knew before.

Isabelle,.....no frustration......think about this.......95% of humanity can not play piano.....that's one......second....just play for fun, just scroll through the piece you want to play, do not repeat every part.....just play.......tomorrow maybe better...the day after tomorrow better......etc.

Kind regards,
Johan B

Johann, I think you are right. I will sight read some of my old pieces, just to hear the combination of sounds that were so pleasing to me then.

Thanks.

- Bach's prelude & fugue Fm (Book II)
- Mozart's sonata in A (first movement)
- Chopin's nocturne in Em (Op. 72 No. 1)
- Messiaen's prelude no. 1 (Dove)

All sorts of scales and arpeggios for C, Cm, E-flat, Am, B, G#m

July 5 a.m. Session, Rosebud Rag and the Cascades by Scott Joplin and Golliwog's Cakewalk by Debussy. Studied and slowly sight read pg 1 of each, after I tapped out the rhythms away from the piano.

p.m session, Rosebud Rag and The Cascades. Pg 1 of Cascades memorized. (Let's see if it sticks over night). The 16th note run hands together, parallel ascending gave me a time, but I've got it.

Hopefully tomorrow will get back to the Scarlatti for a bit. The ragtime rhythms are infectious. Why didn't I do this years ago? Actually I tried ragtime but couldn't get the rhythm or feel of it. Seemed like there was way too much black ink splattered on the page!!!

Been practicing my arpeggios, HT, parallel motion. Major and minor triads, including all inversions, arpeggiated triad inversions with an added 8th (root, 1st inversion, 2nd, root, etc.), dominant 7th arpeggios, only root position, diminished 7th arpeggios, and some suspended and overlapping arpeggios. It's pretty excessive, but in doing this I feel like I can immediately play almost anything that would come up in a piece. I really recommend it.

Today did my performance at the organ of the Willibrordus-church in Kloosterburen, playing a 'Bach-medley' and after that works from ' l'Office Catholique' of Louis James Alfred Lefébure-Wély and some other small works.

Kloosterburen

Johan B
