FYI I just bought a Kawai MP7 using a 15% off coupon from Musicians Friend. My MP6 got stolen and so I am now replacing it with the MP7. And they had them in stock.

Thanks for the heads up.

Sorry for your loss (the MP6), but congrats on the gain (the MP7)!

Cheers,
James

What the heck, stolen? Dangit, you can't start a story like that and then not follow up on it. From your home?. Car?. Band van?. After a show?. Did you file an insurance claim?.

This was quite unsettling for me since I am nearly 60 and have not filed a stolen claim before in my life. I have not had anything of material value stolen from me. I am moving from Shreveport, Louisiana to Houston, TX because of my day job. I have a Musical ministry where I play for services as a volunteer around the area for smaller churches and help with supplying sound reinforcement for religious events. While we are trying to sell the house, I rented a storage facility nearby to stage household belongings that we do not use daily. I am in Houston most of the time. For a period of time the security gate was broken and left open unbeknownst to me. Someone evidently drove in and broke my lock and got my piano and amp. Here is what I learned. First and foremost use a lock that the shank is covered to prevent someone from using a set of bolt cutters to cut the lock (which they did). Next take pictures of your gear and keep an inventory so your can give the police your serial numbers and pictures of the gear( which I had all that). Also keep copies of your invoices (which I did). If they have that information they can check online for your stolen gear at pawn shops immediately. And yes file a police report. The police was most helpful. Also help the insurance company by supplying web links to replacement equipment. Especially if in the case of the Kawai MP6 it was discontinued. Also check to ensure your homeowners/renters policy does cover equipment off premises. This is very important since I understand some policies do not cover off premise personal belongings. I have waited for a couple of weeks and they have not found the equipment and I have a service coming up I am covering for another musician. So I did file a claim with my homeowners policy. I am just happy no one got hurt. I hope this information is helpful to other musicians.

Hi Kawai James. Thanks for the note. I loved the MP 6 and really hoped the piano would show back up. I was blessed with insurance that allowed me to replace the equipment. I am looking forward to the MP7 since it is am awesome instrument. By the way you did a great job on the MP7 manual and I bet you were doing a lot with the website. I always enjoy your comments, insights and the tone you set on pianoworld.com. Kawaimp.com is the best websites for educating folks in the feature set of the Kawai MP series.

Ah that's a shame. But glad to hear your home wasn't invaded. The MP7 is really nice. Wish you many years of enjoyment.
