Hi, dire tonic! It seems to me that this theme is at least very similar to a Standard called "Until the Real Thing Comes Along". I don't know who wrote it or who popularized it, but I associate it with the "Big Bands" of the late '30s to 1950 or so

Unfortunately for me it isn't a lot of time. I've been unable to progress on anything, let alone play any 'extra' things for the past 6-7 weeks because of work load. So, I'll have to bow out of this one, reluctantly. I'm still very much looking forward to hearing everybody else though smile

Unfortunately due to hand injury I have to drop Gershwins' Someone to Watch Over Me. frown It's a great piece if someone else wants to pick it up. Sorry its so late in the game but I was really hoping I could still hang on to this piece.

I'm not going to let go of Tico Tico just yet. Fingers crossed that I can work through it and get it to a state where it's some kind of listenable in a month.

Ethel Smith played "Tico Tico" on the Hammond organ in the movie "Bathing Beauty" which starred Red Skelton and Esther Williams. It definitely belongs in the GAS.

no problema

I just thought of the GAS as of north-american composers only. While we're at it: why not Stephen Foster or Michael Jackson? that time period is more and more out of touch...
