If you can locate an ES7, that has the same action.

Good tip Scott.

The CN24/CN34 console models also utilised the same action, although these have been superseded by the CN25/CN35. Generally speaking, the console models may be easier to find at Kawai dealers than the portable/stage instruments.

Kind regards,
James

Thanks so much! This is all very helpful. If I want the closest to acoustic feel it would then be between the Kawai MP11 and CP4 correct? I believe the MP7 would more closely relate to the CP40 in terms of action, correct? The CP4 and MP11 are both in my budget.

@Scott and Kawai James, I still have not found one MP7, MP11, CN etc. anywhere to try out. I really want to try out the Kawai ones before spending over 2k so I will continue to search.

Sebs, if your not already doing this try acoustic piano stores that sell Kawai. I have never seen them in the chain stores. But I do see them in large piano stores that also carry the Kawai grand pianos.

Thanks Kbeaumont. I did try that and still no luck yet. Ill keep looking as I'm in no rush. Unless I find some really great deal on one or the other it may make the choice then.

Hi, CP4 key action for me is below Roland RD800 and Kawai MP7, and Roland PHA4 Premium action in RD800 is an exact copy of Kawai RH2 in MP7. I only consider that PHA4 has a bouncy feel with that spongy (squashy) feeling common in Roland keys compared with a flat feel more natural piano feeling common in kawai keys. My choice is Kawai MP7 for a better feel. What is your opinion?
