I've heard "Taranta Project" but I don't have an opinion about it, yet...

I really like it, Carlos. It's not traditional Einaudi, and I prefer his traditional stuff more, but I like a wide range of music--and this is some terrific World Music. My favorite track is Choros, perhaps unsurprisingly, as it's the closest thing to his edgy pieces on Nightbook or Time Lapse. I also love the title track, Taranta, and Mama LaRondinella, which is incredibly catchy. And, of course, the vocal version of Nuvole Bianche is heartachingly lovely. There really was only one piece I didn't care for (I forget the name; but I call it "opium den drone," because that's what it sounds like. ).

Yes Monica, thanks for your review. We've a kind of "world music festival" in Portugal once a year, and the "spirit" it's quite similar

Ok no laughing, but I went and got my arm-autograph permanently inked over the weekend. I'm absolutely stoked, and I love glimpsing it as I play his music, it makes me remember the concert night- one of the most moving experiences ever, and the effect Mr E's music has had on my life.

There was a fun announcement on the Einaudi Facebook group page this morning: He released a single, Night, from his upcoming new album.

Well, there was one little catch. The website has all the notes for the single. It's up to you the listener to guess the rhythm for the notes correctly by clicking with your computer mouse. I had a blast playing with it, and I can't wait to find out if the real thing sounds anything like my rendition.

Did you hear the 'real thing' at the very end? It's lovely, with full orchestral accompaniment. Hope there are some solo pieces in the album, though!

I ordered this book. It has no pieces in common with the well known "The best of Einaudi - solo piano" book.

The video of the "real thing" wasn't available in the U.S., Marie, but a kind friend ensured that I got to hear it. I love the new piece. Very Divenire-ish, in a good way.

johan, I had seen that book for sale (and actually wrote a fairly lukewarm review of it on amazon), mostly because it's not accurately named. It is nowhere near a collection of the "easiest" Einaudi pieces to play (a couple of them are actually fairly hard, and it lacks the truly easy pieces). Now that you point out that it contains pieces not previously contained in the "Best of" book, it makes a lot more sense. But the publisher really ought to change the name of the collection to "The Easiest Einaudi Pieces Not Already Contained in the 'Best of' Collection."
