I am new to this forum. I am considering to buy Kawai baby grand piano for my kid and couldnt make decision which one I should choose between Kawai GM 12 and GE30. The price for GM 12 is $9250 plus taxes and series number is 2571280. The price for GE30 is $12990 plus taxes and series number is 2520225 (made in 2005). Can you please tell me if the prices for GE30 and GM12 are reasonable or too expensive. Any advice is welcomed. Thanks for your feedback.

Are both instruments being sold as new with full warranty? I think current GE30s have the Millenium III action, not sure about one that's two years old.

Steve:
Thanks. How do you think the price? Yes, they will be sold as new with 10 year full warranty.

I'm no expert and I'm not in the biz. The prices you've quoted seem pretty competitive based on what I've seen in other posts. The real question would be if the GE30 has the Millenium III action. That action would be worthy of the additional investment. Otherwise it's a matter of if you like the sound of the bigger piano $3,740 more.

Greetings jin2008,

Welcome to the forum.

The Kawai GM-12 also has the Millennium III Action.

Both the GE-30 or the GM-12 are very good pianos.
Touch and tone are the important factors. You be the judge.

Best,

Bear

Jin,

go with the GE-30 and the price is high for a 2005.

A brandnew GE-30 is around 12.5K on the west coast.

Jin...I am also looking at a Kawai GE-30. I talked them down to $11,650 so far. I was wondering if offering him $11,000 or $10,500 was unreasonable.

Jin...also, the Kawai GE-30 I was looking at was "new" so I suppose it is a 2007/2008.

can you please tell me which dealer you are talking with and which state you are located? the price you got seems much more reasonable. I like GE-30 very much. Due to buget, I might buy it if the price is about $11000.

I have a GE-30 made in 2005. Great little piano. It does NOT have the Millenium III action. That was added the following year. To my ears the smaller Kawai sounded too brassy. The GE-30 sounded very similar to the larger RX-2. I could not have lived with the smaller piano, but this one is terrific for its size with a mellow bass and mid section and a somewhat brighter treble that adds just a bit of sparkle to the mix without sounding brassy or tinny. As to the price, who knows 11,000 would be a very low price for a GE-30, but it is supposed to be a buyers' market in the piano biz these days, so it just might be possible. Good luck, jin.

HI Jin....the piano dealer is Baker's Piano Center, Bob Baker is the owner. He is in Highlands Ranch and Boulder, Colorado. Phone number 303 730-7779. I think we would have more buying power if he could sell two at 10,500 than just one! Let me know.

Yangx,

This thread is four years old. The prices paid in 2008 would no longer have relevance to shopping now.

Marty in Minnesota and all with interest,
I thought the same way when I posted the question. But several hrs ago, I did find a dealer who gave me a quote similar to what was offered 4 years ago. I am pretty happy about it.
Cheers
