I thought I would share some photos of my new baby grand. It's a Kawai GE-30 5'5" baby grand.

Here Are the Pics[/b]

I'm thrilled with my new piano. It sounds fabulous in my living room. I noticed a couple of sticky dampers, but that should be an easy fix. Who knows, it might even "fix" itself as the piano settles in. The delivery guys included the salesman who sold it to me and the store manager. Since I bought from Brook Mays, I don't know if I'll receive my free tuning, but I got a great price, and I imagine my regular tech would do a better job, anyway.

Gee, in the photo the dust on the plate and dampers really shows up. I'm off to dust my piano now. \:D

Congratulations, TX-Dennis.

I wonder what it says about Brook Mays that they should not take the time and (minimal) effort to removed the visible dust on the plate and on the dampers. What does that say about the condition of the rest of the piano?

I hope all is well, and that you will really enjoy your new piano when it gets its first tuning.

Regards,

Congratulations on your beautiful new piano.

Is that a check on the music desk?

How is the sound on that tile floor, have you considered a rug?

If you are happy that is all that matters.

Congratulations on your beautiful new piano, TX-Dennis! Btw, are you going to take the other two pedal socks off? ;\)

p.s. I had several sticky dampers with my new piano. It's no big deal, and if they're still sticking when you get it tuned, it's a quick fix.

Thanks, everyone.

BruceD, the condition of the piano seems to be great other than a couple of dampers that occasionally stick. I'm sure the tech can adjust those in a minute or two.

Kenny, having become used to the sound of my LOUD little Acrosonic on that tile floor, the Kawai sounds very[/b] mellow. I may add a rug later, though. Not a check; that is the salesman's business card. I hadn't put it away yet when I took the pictures.

Those sticky dampers can be really annoying. Compared to my Acrosonic this piano sings forever[/b]. Fortunately they only stick when I play loudly. I checked Kawai's website, and the piano dates to mid 2005, so it's been in the store aobut a year. It has the older action rather than the newer Millenium III, but it is very responsive and controllable. Of course, again I am comparing it to my little Acrosonic's very light acion. It feels as good as anything I've played, though, including some pianos that were quite a bit more expensive.

Thanks, Monica. Yes, they are off now. \:D They weren't socks, exactly. More like plastic foam held on with rubber bands.

Thanks, Rick. That picture was painted by a local artist for my parents about 25 - 30 years ago. His name was W. B. Franklin, but he was not the famous artist by that name. He was a local draftsman who taught himself to paint and opened a gallery,

Yes, it is difficult to stop playing right now. Tough to go to sleep at a reasonable time as well. I hope the neighbors haven't been bothered too much by my playing, \:D

One of these days maybe I'll get a microphone or two to record, but I currently am unable to record.

congrats! I love Kawai's - it was my 2nd choice a few months ago when I bought a new piano, and I think they have a really beautiful sound.
