My view of this piece, by Giovanni Dettori, is very positive. Not only does it marry two completely disparate genres -but does it beautifully. If I was a professional pianist, I would add it to my repertoire, and not just as a novelty encore.

Will it still be played 250 years from now?

Hmm it's great to see how a pop piece can be transcribed into a baroque piece, would you happen to know anyone doing it the other way round?

Do you mean pop music in general, or Dettori's composition -? The original songs covered by Britney. will definitely be around in 250 years , not that we will be here to care.

I know that J.S Bach is massively influential, with Paul McCartney, for example, revealing in an interview that he and Lennon listened to a lot of Bach -The hit song, Whiter Shade Of Pale, uses a baroque melody -and there have been other examples of hit songs using themes from the baroque -

Wendy Carlos was famous for her electronic, switched on Bach in the 70's -but I don't know of anyone who is creating lyrics and beats to baroque melodies -
