That lesson's a total failure! The girl never learns to allow the teacher to hold her armweight or gains any understanding of the technique (which is actually what it is - it's not an exercise). Maybe it would help if the teacher could demonstrate using one of these: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marionette

I found this youtube video relevant. Needs a bit of filtering! The subject is arm weight, tension seems to underlie the lecture.

I found this youtube video relevant. Needs a bit of filtering! The subject is arm weight, tension seems to underlie the lecture. He never 'got' armweight - his teacher told me.
