Any suggestions for an app that will let me write music on an iPad, or on a Mac?
I've recently heard about StaffPad, but as far as I know, that's available only on the Microsoft Surface tablet. Has it been announced for the iPad?
I don't do much heavy-duty writing, so even an app of limited functionality could satisfy my purposes for the time being.
Thanks.

I use Notion a lot. It's fantastic.

Eric, if you are specifically interested in notating scores on your iPad, I would suggest taking a look at 'Touch Notation', developed by Kawai. This app has been discussed in greater detail over in the Digital Piano forum: http://www.pianoworld.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2411096/Kind regards, James x

After much consideration, we bought a Surface for my son so that he could use StaffPad. It has turned out to be a truly excellent decision. This coming from a family that has been die hard Apple fans since 2002 and said child had never touched a windows machine. The Surface itself is an amazing piece of hardware and leaves iPad miles behind in functionality. StaffPad has allowed my son to get the music constantly in his brain out on paper in ways he was never able to do using Sibelius or pen and paper.
