So, i've been having this problem for some ține now....i cannot find good sheet music for non classical songs anywhere în The Internet.
None of The sheets i find sound like The actual song i'm trying to play, and i suspect copyright having something to do with it.
So why can't i find good sheet music, and how do you learn to play non classical pièces? And sorry for any mistakes, english îs not my first language.

A lot of popular music is still in copyright, so you will not find it on the internet. Also, most printed popular music is simpler than what you may hear played. You have to learn to add your own touches to the music. It takes time and practice to learn to do that well. A teacher who specializes in the style you like would be of help.

I picked up a second hand music collection with sheet music from 1900 to about 1960. A good investment at $10 for a couple of hundred songs.

I also just bought a few sheets at a charity second hand book fair, all 1920s and 30s. Cost was $2 a sheet.

In Australia we have a free site called Gumtree that allows people to sell or give away unwanted items. I have enough now but will still keep an eye on it.

Ebay is another option but sellers tend to think they are selling collectors items and put unrealistic prices on old sheet music.

Newer music can be had in books with up to 100 songs but they probably do not have good piano arrangements. Cost is reasonable though for new books. Again, second hand prices for books are usually well above a realistic price.

I am planning to use the large collection for sight reading practice. The big disadvantage of really old sheet music is the musty smell.

Hi Dive,
I go to MusicNotes and SheetMusicPlus to get individual sheet music for non-classical songs. They usually are pretty current, having the latest top 40 available, as well as older pop/folk/rock/etc.. songs.
Because of copyright, you do have to pay around 4 or 5 U.S. dollars for each song's sheet music, but if you're just looking for a couple at a time, it's definitely worth it.

P.S. if you want the most accurate version (which has spoken/rap lyrics written out rhythmically, drum hits, sound effects, make sure to choose the "pro" singer version of the song on MusicNotes for example (although this has whatever the background is for that song - written on piano, and not a complete arrangement for the piano, often leaving the melody out, so that a real singer can perform with you). If you want the basic chords and melody with a complete piano part written out with lyrics, choose the Piano/Guitar/Vocal version. Never get the 'Easy piano' version, as these are watered down and not faithful to the original, as you might guess!

Hope that helps smile
