Hi I am a new member (but not a new pianist) and I would like to know where to find low intermediate level sheet music for Georgia on my mind. I didn't like the version on music notes (it was in f, and I want it in C). I really would like the melody line with chord backup (chords notated not written). I hope that was clear.

What you want (melody line plus chords) is called a lead sheet. Lead sheets are collected in books called fake books or real books. So if you google "Georgia on my mind" Lead Sheet (or fake book etc...) you might be able to find something. You may not find it in C, but you could always transpose it yourself. Georgia on my Mind is a pretty challenging song for someone at a low intermediate level to play as there are a lot of chord changes in it.

you might look at scott houston's 1 on 1 DVD series. He teaches Georgia on my Mind from a lead sheet, with both simplified and more advanced versions of the song.

I think the version he teaches is in F, but the dvd walks you through playing it. If you have an iPad, he also has an iPad app where you can get the same videos for much cheaper than the DVD.

Good Luck

P.S. Transposing the melody line isn't too hard to do by ear, but transposing all the chords can be tricky. A lot of guitar tab/chord sites will do that for you.

for example lists all the chords in F and will transpose them for you.

Learning to transpose the chords from one key to another is not really all that difficult, and is a valuable skill. It not only helps you transpose, but also you gain knowledge of chord construction, and of moving the hand thru a series of chords.

In your example, play an F chord (assuming here that it is F - A - C), and go down a 1/2 step equally with each finger, slowly, one at a time, to E - G# - B.

You have just transposed it from F to E.

Keep doing that slowly, one chord at a time, and one note at a time, until you get down to C - E - G.

You have now transposed that chord from F to C. Write it down, either in notation, or simply "C -E - G".

Once you have done it a few times, it becomes relatively easy.

ps...Guitar tabs are not the most accurate resource.
