New Orleans nowadays is a terrible place to shop for pianos. The hurricane prompted Werlein's, the big Steinway and Yamaha dealer to close up (I believe that their 2 locations did not flood, but maybe I am wrong.) Another big dealer, Broussard's, got flooded, and when they restocked, they seemed to only restock with Kawai, Nordiska, and a bunch of entry level brands.
The remaining dealer, Hall Piano - where I bought my Charles Walter years ago, and who survived without flooding - used to be the anti-Steinway/Yamaha, and stocked a lot of great European names like Schimmel, Bosie, etc. (and of course, the great American brand, Charles Walter.) Unfortunately, with Werleins giving up its Steinway and Yamaha franchises, Hall Piano decided to scoop them up, and got out of all those great brands.
Jolly could probably direct you as to the situation in Baton Rouge, but I don't think that you would want to go that far out.
My advice is to just enjoy the pianomen in the Quarter's many musical establishments.
