One day i was searchig about mozart's life and i found a very good website, one that had more information about Mozart than any other that i previously saw, ( and they were still updating ). Any way, on that site i was Reading, then i found a story about him and a friend, that was in the times of the Young Mozart. That friend had approximately the same age of Mozart at the time, 16 or 17 years old, and he was a great virtuso at the violin. He wrote a symphony that i paticularly loved, and of course being a virtuso of the violin, a lot of pieces. He died very young with 16 or 17 years old, but he made his fame. Some days ago i remembered him ,and i am looking ever since.
So if any of you know who is this brilliant teenager composer, please don't hesitate in letting me know.

Could it be Thomas Linlay? There is not much information in the link below, but it seems to fit --

on the bottom of page 11

Edit: believe it is spelled Linley,

He died at the age of 22... young enough to fit.

Thanks SO much, Dogperson ... a great bit of sleuthing to track down an extraordinary and little-known genius. And the You Tube clip of his Concerto is a gem. That he should have died so young ( drowning in a boating accident) and that so much of his music was destroyed in a fire ... compounds the tragedy.

And makes one pause to consider how fortunate we are today that the Internet preserves whatever we choose to post ... a single fire couldn't wipe out a lifetime's work. How sad that so much more of Linley's work existed at one time and was lost.
