Hi all,

3 years ago I started composing my own pieces, however I am facing some problems because I don't have enough feedback on my compositions.
I recently experimented to blend different music pieces together, I would really appreciate your advice, comments and feedback on every aspect of the performance.

The first thing I'd say is that none of these are your works. So I'm a bit confused, because you talk about your compositions and the lack of feedback and then you post the music of transformers, etc... :-/

In any case the performance was ok, I guess, though the combination seems like a hit and miss thing.

Not sure if you're looking for anything else... :-/

My piece is blended with transformers and two steps from heck, so the first part and final part is my own composition. I was trying to make a mashup between my original and two known music themes laugh

Thanks for your comments laugh

Ah! I didn't get that, cause I don't know the OST of the said movies...

That said, keep in mind that both 'blend' and 'mashup' have an idea of playing more than 1 piece at the same time, rather than one after the other...

Just saying...

Your playing is nice, though! smile Don't get all my negativity in the previous post get you down! smile

I think this works well as a piece in its own right -though I wasn't familiar with the original themes -

I, too, was not familiar with the pieces involved, so I couldn't detect any awkward transitions. I think your playing is well-done also, and wish that you had a grand piano where you could hear more nuances from your playing. smile

I do have a couple of suggestions, though. Everything is in the same key. When you do a piece that doesn't change key at all, it can become rather static. Then if you are repeating material, that accentuates the lack of movement. In sonata-allegro form, for example, you introduce the 2nd theme in the dominant key already, which could be quite early on in the piece. I think this is to keep the listener engaged.

What would be cool, I think, is to really do a nice contrasting change. You're in a minor key, what about when you do that submit piano part, you change it to a tender major version of the theme? That will make the resurgence of the theme in minor and forte much more impactful.

Also, consider a simple key change earlier on. It's very simple to change a key. It's a bit more limited in minor, but you can get to the parallel or relative major, and then you have many options available to you:

- # the 4th scale degree and you're in the key of V
- b the 7th scale degree and you're in the key of IV.
- # the 5th scale degree and you're in the vi harmonic minor key (most likely back where you started).
- b the 3rd scale degree and you're in the i melodic minor
- # the 1st scale degree and you're in the ii melodic minor

To get out of those keys, you simply undo the accidental you did you get to that key.

Good work so far! Have you tried your hand at composing your own music from scratch?

Thanks for your feedback, I will try to implement these ideas in my pieces. I tried to compose many pieces from scratch, I would really appreciate it if you check my youtube channel and tell me your opinion
