Is anybody using RD-800 with MainStage 3? Have strange issues, like ticks in clicks with MainStage piano sounds.

Hello:

I'm seriously considering an RD-800, though I plan to first go to a store to test and confirm I want it. Nonetheless, I'll need some support from someone like you from this forum, so would like to make sure you can help me. For example: I plan to aquire the RPU3 tripple pedal to have a better piano experience, and since the RD manual doesn't explain how to set the various pedal functions (i.e., damper, sostenuto, soft, and half pedal), then I'll need someone to instruct me on this, unless it is automagic (i.e., plug and play). Can you help me when it's the case?

On the thread about the new LX/HP pianos, there have been comments about their supernatural engine being more powerful and more conected to the keys than that in the v-piano. How does the RD-800 engine compare to those others? Is it an intermediate generation or the same as in v-piano?

Thank you.

Piano presets are programmed to use the triple pedal properly, so you don't need to change them.
It is quite simple to change them to do other things though.

Hello, I'm still considering an RD-800, although I haven't found one near me to try out. Since I have already tried a v-piano, this is probably not a problem, as they are similar AFAIC.

I'd like to know if the piano tones have octave stretching, since this parameter appears not to be present, or at least it isn't in the manual. It would be quite anoying not to have properly stretched octaves as on an AP...

I'm about to buy an RD-800, and would like to buy speakers along with it. Is Yamaha HS8 the best bet, or there is a cheaper solution with similar adequacy?

I can suggest you when you're buying monitors, don't save.
if you can afford, I would go for the Adam AX series.
Adam A7X would be perfect for your piano.

Sorry if this has been said before, I wanted to know if it's possible to manually play the piano along with a midi or audio file being played by the instrument.

Yes, you can play along with WAV audio files from a thumb drive. You can also plug an mp3 player into the line in jack and play along with songs that way.

The RD-700 could playback MP3 though, yes?
I wonder why this feature was removed...?

For MIDI, you can uses external sequencer to send MIDI to all 16 channels, although you can only play 4 parts on the keyboard.

OK, I got one! I've just set it up, so haven't digged into it yet.

It came with a DP10 damper pedal as a gift, but aparently, the piano tones are not set for half-pedaling by default. Does anyone know how to configure it properly please as the manual speaks nothing about?

You may need to check the pedal. It has a switch on the side. Make sure it is on "continuous".

Can anybody recommend some good studio monitors for my RD-800 ? I just intend to use them here at home, not using them for an audience. I was down to my dealers here today and there is quite an array of studio monitors, at least in the $200 to $400 range. Also heard a pair that were $750 apiece (which were awesome, of course) but don't know that I want to spend that much. Any recommendation would be much appreciated as I intend to go back tomorrow and invest in a pair ….

I'd like to know the procedure, perhaps aplying some effect, to cut off the vibrato from the Oboe tone (710). Decreasing the vibrato rate and depth inside the tone designer to a negative value doesn't help.

To the Roland staff: When designing the tones' library, please include at least two tones per musical instrument: one with vibrato and one without.

Do you mean copying a live set to another slot?

If I remember correctly, when we save a live set, we are asked where to save it.
You can just load the one you want and select to save on another slot.
