Hi, I am reading a lot about several composers of the period on wikipedia and several of them, if not all, started to study music since childhood, like C.P.E.Bach , Vivaldi, Frescobaldi,Telemann and etc... i would like to know for how much time the childrens practiced the musical instruments that they were learning.

As a rough guide, work out how much time you spend on electronic devices - phone, computer, TV, radio, mobile devices, etc, etc - that would be the amount of time a child spends practicing his musical instrument in the days when the word 'electricity' hadn't been invented........

Yeh. Telemann was not allowed to sleep a night through. Servants would wake him every two hours and make him practice at least an hour. Bach started so young he was made to practice while on the potty! Vivaldi's parents meanwhile tied a violin round his neck - he had no choice but to practice all day even when outside playing baseball with his mates! No mitt for him.

In those times education was much stricter and children were expected to follow in their parents' footsteps and so children of musicians were probably practicing several hours a day. There were also fewer distractions as noted by bennevis.
