I went to a rehearsal tonight, and when I got back to my car I found window smashed in and my backpack had been stolen out of it. Nothing in the backpack would be valuable to anyone else but me. Most importantly/scarily it had my binder with notes on my students and all my lesson plans and evaluations since the beginning of this semester. It also had contact info for each student. Also with it are my flash cards, other teaching supplies, and a binder full of vocal music with my notes and translations written in.

This is horrible. My suggestion is to go back to the general area tomorrow morning and look through garbage cans. As soon as the culprit found it useless, they might have thrown it out in the area. Let me know if you find it. I hope you do.

Ask personnel local to the parking lot where thieves like this dump the stuff they don't need. The police may know as well.

Sorry to hear!

I had a similar thing happen to be many years ago. While I was home and in another room of the house, a burglar - in broad daylight mind you - walked into my home and stole my bag. It was a laptop bag, but it only had music and a metronome in it. They dumped in it a neighbor's garbage can who later brought it to me thinking it was mine.

It is a hard lesson to learn. frown My son had the same thing - a bag that contained textbooks and library books. And his debit card.

Over the holidays my grandmother's car had only a sweater visible. So some thieves are just desperate. Thieves still broke in and got my daughter's skate supply bag out of the trunk. Basically a water bottle and burned cds with program music in a little bag. I am still thanking the stars I brought her skates in the house. That would have been devastating to lose.

It is a violation and I'm sure that you might notice over the next few weeks other things that you can't find. smirk I'm sorry.

Well, notified the police last night, sent a message to the staff at the building I was at, went this morning to check the area (that was pretty hopeless - in the downtown core with alleys and dumpsters everywhere). Nothing. I really hope noone actually reads the info in the binders. Apparently there has been a lot of break-ins recently, as there was an article in the paper on it today.
