A piece I wrote for my mother and her cat, Wizard. I'd like to share it with you guys too.

The Magician, Youtube (computer playing, will have to record this someday myself)

it is a shame people rarely give comments or feedback on works posted here.

I think you have some nice ideas in this piece Roman. It reminds me allot of the early Brahms, which is a good thing.
Though, the harmonic background gets a little repetitive after a while and the overal voice leading is also a bit static (the right hand especially).

I know how hard it is to get critiqued but I want to emphesize that I am honest because I believe in your potential growth. I wish you warmth and inspiration! keep on posting my friend,

R

Thanks a lot for your kind and thoughtful response Sande.

I agree with and appreciate your criticisms. I've only discovered a small amount of chord progressions through my improvising and I always get stuck playing in the one key I'm comfortable with too, so I am extremely repetitive in the harmonies I play and my development and transitioning is often random.

I'm hoping that while experimenting with different keys I can make my music more interesting. I should probably research some theory too or have my teacher teach me more about theory in general haha.

Thank you for the positive feedback and for believing in me! smile

I like the overall character of this piece but what you can do is switch the tempo a bit some parts I would feel it better with a livelier/faster speed (I'm guessing that's how you spell livelier)?

Thank you for your comment JonnyJ.

I agree about needing a faster tempo for a few parts. There are a lot of things I'd probably revise in this piece if I came back to it. My mom was very glad when I wrote it for her so before making any revisions I have to write her a simplified version, perhaps at that time more inspiration will come to me with this work.
(You're right about your spelling.)
