At first, I thought it was a replacement for FP50.
But it looks more like a newer version of F20 in FP package.
At this price, it could be a new good beginner model.

I like to see built-in Bluetooth as a standard feature on a DP. Can come in handy.

This comes in a bit more expensive than a PX-160 or P115 right? The WAV USB recording is handy that I think both those keyboards lack.

Yes, a bit more expensive. Roland obviously priced and designed the FP30 to compete with the other popular three DPs in that range. Regardless, it's great to see these manufacturers offering affordable quality DPs.

$499US Casio PX-160
$599US Yamaha P115
$699US Roland FP-30
$799US Kawai ES100

I think they have a winner, i really like the action of the RD800 keybed, and this is the same.. also the piano sounds come from the RD800...

I dont think anything can beat this price, i think its sensational...

Nice action but not the same as RD800:

FP-30: PHA-4 Standard Keyboard: with Escapement and Ivory Feel
RD800: PHA-4 Concert Keyboard: with Escapement and Ebony/Ivory Feel

Hi, this is a really face to face competitor to Kawai ES100 in key action, sound and weight (portability). Good job Roland....!

I don't think Kawai has much too worry about, but it is healthy competition. Especially if they drop the price of the ES100 to $699. OR ES200 comes out with Bluetooth, line outs, and Harmonic Imaging XL wink

True, but as with the ES100, I expect the Phones jacks will be more than adequate for outputting to speakers or a PA.

I wonder why they do this, it must be a marketing decision considering the trivial cost of putting a feature on a decently priced digital piano. I guess they're gunning for the home audience and really want to up-sell anyone who wants to gig.

Despite no dedicated line output, it's really not a deal breaker. These boards are still gig-worthy with some limitations. Not to get off this topic, but check out Voxpops findings on gigging an ES100 @ Kawai ES100 - Gig report

Looks like an interesting board that may dethrone the ES100. I notice they stripped away the GM2 set and rythm section that the F130R has. A bit sad because that would've made it competitive with the PX360 too.

Hi, i agree Marko... if KAWAI release an ES200 with an improved tri-sensor version of AHA-IV key action, bluetooth, line outs, and Harmonic Imaging XL sound engine, low weight and low price, KAWAI easily will destroy any competition in this price range. Have a nice day...!

Like now. Seen it advertised in UK. Judging by its size itll use the stand appropriate to the FP50. £439 at all the major stores.

That Kraft Music add in the original post says "Coming Soon - Pre-Order Now!" That's what made me ask. I hope you are right because I was just about to order a digital piano and this just gives me another option to consider.

I reckon itll be similar to the fp50 but without some of the variables (which I dont reckon are too important) for a whopping cut in price. AND it has ROUND speakers. Wish mine had round speakers. ..

2 Questions: 1)What do you have? 2)What do the round speakers do (sorry, I'm noob grin)?

I have the FP 50 with non round speakers. I think they make a difference particularly to the bass.

Is the Roland action better than what is on the Yamaha P-115?

Sorry, but I'm not familiar with the Yamaha GHS action. Somebody else would have to state their preference, but it's always a matter with preference with key actions, but I remember reading a lot of comments of people who were not fond of the GHS.

I just know the old Ivory G-feel and the new PHA4-standard and I feel it's very significantly improved over the previous action. The keys are more nimble, easier to play, they're on the quiet side and don't bottom out too hard, and they return quickly into place (I felt the old action was rather sluggish). This is just to describe my impressions as well as I can relative to another action.

If this matters for a buying decision, you should test them, side by side preferably.

I strongly prefer PHA4 Standard over GHS. They both have a pretty specific feel though, so personal preference is going to matter. Not sure how to explain it but for example GH (not GHS) feels comparatively a bit more middle of the road. GH doesn't have triple sensors nor escapement though (nor has GHS) so it's just technically inferior and outdated.

Just to clarify, this does _not_ yet have the sound engine of HP603 and up, fully modeled, right?
