That's an interesting view. It would also make sense.

A cheaper bed on such a great board, that would be truly sad. The FP 80 begs for a better bed. IMHO that would put this slab in a class way above its competitors. About the price, when compared to it's comp the Es7 the price seem very fare.

They share the same engine, the original Roland SuperNatural one. From what I can see, the one on the HP5xxx series has a slight improvement (Dynamic Harmonic) and the HP6xxx has the fully modeled one.

But this piano will sound the same like for example the RD300NX, RD700NX, HP503, FP50, FP80 etc (which is still far better than most others in this price range).

The price o the FP80 is nezrly £300 more than that of the ES8. Excessive, imo. Should be level pegging. FP has more voices, ES has more decent pianos. The action on both are OK.. .

Hi, thanks to salce and RuddesJR for sharing with us this great demo video... really the Roland FP30 looks very promissing... IMHO Roland has a winner here under $1500 price range. Cheers...!

Hi, at same price IMHO i prefer Kawai ES7 over Roland FP80, because IMHO, i believe that the Kawai has a better key action, and ES8 is only slightly better than ES7 in this respect. Regards...!

I would like to know if Roland FP30 key action is more silent and less bouncy than the Roland RD800 key action, and which of the two is heavier ... Thanks!

Fer, I'm curious about something: why do you want to know which of those two DPs -- the Roland FP30 or the Kawai MP7 -- has the heavier key action? Are you in the market for a new piano, and think you might have to buy one online without having a chance to try it out for yourself? If not, then why do you care which action is heavier?

Hi JEB NYC, you are right!... I'm a happy owner of a MP7 but i need a more portable DP for travel and practice, for that reason i need a slab. My MP7 is going to stay as a master controller in my home studio and i love the feeling but it is more in the light or medium side and i would like a heavier action. I was thinking that FP30 has a heavier action than RD800 and FP80, and these actions are more similar to my MP7. Im looking for help because i cant try FP30 cause im going to make my buy online. Thanks for your feedback.

OK, that seems reasonable enough (although buying a DP without trying it first is risky). However you've asked that sort of question a lot of times in a lot of different places, and unless you let people know why you are asking it can come across as kind of random and strange. I'd suggest not asking quite so many questions, and providing more background context when you do (i.e., this is why I'm asking, this is what I plan to do with the information, etc.), so people will have a better idea how to respond. Otherwise you risk having them tune you out.

I tried out both the Kawai ES100 and the new Roland FP-30 today....and the action on the Kawai was noticeably better eg: more like an acoustic piano. This Roland's action was similar to other models of that brand however, including more expensive Rolands so if that's your style, the FP-30 is a great new option in the under $1000 price category.

(Caveat: am advanced, classical player so the action and 'continous' pedal are paramount for me).
