Humans of New York has a pianist featured. I thought his comments about performing were interesting as well as his reasons for taking a year off.

I don't think I have seen a pianist featured there before. For those unfamiliar with HONY, a photographer interviews people on the streets of NY and take a statement and a photo. The facebook has both parts of the interview, the webpage seems to only have one.

I am a huge fan of Piotr Anderszewski. I had the opportunity to hear him perform/conduct two Mozart concertos with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra in Philadelphia a few years back. It was an absolutely stunning performance. There is a wonderful film portrait of him entitled "Piotr Anderszewski, Unquiet Traveler" where he talks about music and performing and about his Polish-Hungarian heritage. He is am extremely intellectual and yet his playing is very personal and deeply felt.

OMG, I did not even notice that it was Anderszewski! I knew he looked kind of familiar. Yes, that film is great. Whenever I watch it, I find myself yearning to travel on a train, through the snow, in Poland, all the while having a piano *on the train* to practice on. Maybe that sounds lovelier than it would be in reality, but that film makes it look pretty dreamy....
