15. Christopher Norton : Positively Swinging (piano cover with accompaniment)
from RCM Celebration Series Piano Repertoire Level 4

This was lots of fun playing with a band. They help to cover up some of my weak spots. Thanks mates!

#15: This is my entry for the 42nd ABF online recital. The Gnossienne No. 3 is my favorite of the Gnossiennes, so for me it was a natural choice for a recital piece. I've played this before, years ago, and have revived it during the past months, after I took up playing the piano again. And it's still my favorite...

I played this by ear today at a gig in an assisted living venue. I've been just barely hanging on with work and tomorrow's supposed to be my last day at one client's. OTOH, 2 of my other clients are getting busier. Sigh. I feel like I won't really be clear until a year from now. But what plugging away I can do helps. I've spent a little time playing some things by ear or with extra notes in the RH, or other rhythms, et al, and it was kind of neat that I could just pull this out of a hat today. Although, fortunately it was really rowdy and the birds were whistling and nobody could hear anything laugh Any way, it counts by my lights smile

Some updates. Updated link to the Little Beggar. This is what was submitted for the recital. Added a link for Etude (Ferris Wheel).

Something new is Village Dance. I've been looking at Alfred's Masterwork Level 1-2 book as a supplement for sight reading. I started this piece on Sunday but from a sight reading perspective. I started very slow with it and eventually built up tempo. This approach is new for me as I don't think I have it memorized. I very much rely on looking at the sheet while playing this piece, unlike almost everything else up until this point. I'm going to mention this to my teacher on Saturday.

Finally, I'm going to add The Wild Rider by Schumann. I have this at a pretty decent tempo, about 210 for 1/8th (or 70 for dotted quarter). I'll also be playing this on Saturday for teacher - she'll will definitely have feedback on phrasing and articulation. I'll plan to record sometime after that.
