Some of you may have known Joel. He passed away suddenly with no warning this Thursday past. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 1, from 5-6 pm for family, and 6-8 pm for friends, at First Baptist Church of Ann Arbor (517 E. Washington Street). A memorial service will be held at the same location on Thursday, June 2, at 11 am.

Truly sad. So young (46), a wonderful pianist and wonderful human being. Deepest condolences to his family.

This was really saddening news. Being connected on FB, I witnessed the outpouring of condolences, memories, pictures from friends, family and acquaintances. Sadly never got the chance to meet him, but had the impression that he was a warm, generous and caring human being. RIP.

Sorry to learn of his passing. I didn't know him personally, but this video is one of my favorite YouTube piano performances.

One of my friends from my time at Brevard was his student at FSU... Wow. So sad. Rest in peace.
