Not much. If you want a better opinion, have a local technician look at it.

I would have to concur with BDB. The piano is over 90 years old and, since you don't indicate its condition - and condition is everything with a used piano no matter how old or how recent - it's impossible to state any value. You don't state what size it is, either; "baby grand" is not a size designation but a vague range of sizes according to who uses the term.

A piano that old is a likely candidate for major repairs if not complete rebuilding. Since this is not a well-known make, it may not be worth the considerable expense to rebuild or even to repair.

Only a piano technician, upon examining the piano, would be able to ascertain its condition.

Regards,

BruceD

Thanks everyone, that's what I thought but just wanted to make sure. The piano as far as I know is in ok condition the keys are stained. The finish was so weird to begin with I don't know what condition it's in. It's kinda a bumpy matt.

As the finish ages, remaining volatile oils evaporate and also polymerize and degrade from UV exposure. This causes the surface film of the finish to shrink. This shrinkage produces internal stresses in the film which reveal themselves as cracks and roughness.

That's interesting.

I owned an old McPhail upright in the early 1960's (it was probably 40+ years old at that time} and the black matte finish was uniformly "bumpy." I always figured that's the way it was made originally. Apparently not. grin
