If the room is chilly at all ever, I'd be afraid of blue feeling too cool.

As for attire, I vote that you dress like Milburn Pennybags.

For years the Academy of Music in Philadelphia was painted silver and blue to match the hair and eye color of it's music director Leopold Stokowski.

Suggestions on the technique...

You might have better luck if your paint is diluted to a glaze and then you use multiple coats. The translucency that the glaze has will help to make the transitions smoother, since successive coats would not transition at exactly the same place, which will be better.

For smoothest results, consider hiring someone with a paint sprayer. Paint the entire wall white, the have them spray the colored area. That is how I would do it.

It will be an awesome effect, if you get it right.

I'd do sage green, I think.

I thought I would have a trial run, so I painted my office wall using the theory. The effect is far too subtle. I think I know where I have gone wrong and can correct the proportions when I do the big wall. Photo attached to show my miscalculation.
