My new teacher and I among other important things like technique we're working on Chopin's Ballade no 1 in g minor for a competition next year, followed by a piece that I already know, and the revolutionary op 10 no 12 etude by Chopin.
My Rachmaninoff has improved immensely even since the last recording in the music hall. I might re-post my Rachmaninoff on my teacher's college Steinway Model O for this recital.

I have a terrible recording of my piece that I did before I went away on holidays. Hopefully I'll get a much better recording in the next couple of weeks

I am not currently working on any "stretch" pieces, which are my favorites for the recitals. I just turned the ratchet up one notch, one grade level, in the pieces I am doing for the 40 Pieces a Year challenge. So, I will probably submit whatever piece I will have just completed at the time.

I'm the opposite to you Ralphiano, in that my choice is a *big* stretch for me. I was hoping to get it into the May recital but it just wasn't ready. As it happens, someone else submitted it to that one anyway so it all worked out for the best. I got a recording yesterday that I can go with, so I'm pleased about that. I still tend to come a cropper somewhere or other so to have a recording with no clunkers is an achievement in itself There are things I would like to improve, so I'll work on getting a better version before the deadline, but the stress is off.

I look forward to hearing it. Also, I may not be true to my words. I do have two stretch pieces that I am enamoured with, and, they keep sporadically overtaking my will and mounting my music desk. I may yet give in to the temptation.

Holy cow! Kenan, you're already doing that stuff?! It's quite the challenge but considering how much I've improved the last month on everything like scales, sight reading, colors, and pedal it will be much easier than even two months ago. The summer camp I had really opened my eyes, I'm so glad I went.
