The Tango that I am finding the most on the piano is "El Choclo", so you may be able to find a good arrangement. This particular one was again arranged by the pianist.

That's an amazing performance - thanks for posting it. I think the pianist added some of his own embellishments to good effect. The performance hall in Riga is to die for - makes me want to travel to Latvia.

IMHO nothing beats the accordion in conveying all the emotions in the melody line of this particular tango:

If it brings water to your eyes, then you know that you can hear it.

Will do some R&B for a while. Give the classical a break.

I never realized the accordion could be so beautiful before discovering Piazzolla and now I am addicted. I have started adding his tangos arranged for piano to my repertoire and music library because of hearing his originals on the accordion.. I never tire of him.

This one contains the first piano piece that ever really mesmerized me. It is a solo that begins around the 4:15 mark. When I was an undergraduate at the University of Missouri, I still had to drive back to St. Louis on the weekends to play for my soccer team. Every Sunday night, around 7pm or so, just as I would be driving west across the St. Charles bridge, KSHE-95 would cue this one up. 15 minutes later, I would regain my senses, at or near Wentzville (20 miles or so down the highway), doing anywhere from 100-110 mph. shocked

If ever a piece of music needed to be banned from the airwaves, it was this one. laugh

So pull over, take your keys out of the ignition, and enjoy!

Update: I bought the following albums from Apple iTunes recently (sometimes this year). I placed a YouTube video clip for one of the pieces the artist record in the album. Check them out!

Yuja Wang, album "Fantasia": Rachmaninov, Scriabin, piano arrangements of "the sorcerer's apprentice", Bizet, Saint-Saens, etc.

Nikolai Luganski, album "The Poor, Sad Angel - A Chopin Recital".

Nikolai Luganski, album "Rachmaninov: Preludes Op. 23 and Moments Musicaux"

Bertrand Chamayou, album "Ravel: Complete Works for Solo Piano".

Benjamin Martin (my teacher!!!), album "In the Wake of the Great War": Delius, Bax, Vaughan Williams, Bridge.

Leonidas Kavakos, album "Virtuoso with Enrico Pace Piano": Stravinsky, Sarasate, Wieniawski, Elgar, Britten, Paganini, Falla etc.

Sergey Khachatryan, album "Bach: Sonata & Partitas" (violin solo).

Yo-Yo Ma, Stuart Duncan, Edgar Meyer, Chris Thile, album "The Goat Rodeo Sessions".

Oh my God! I thought I had suffered some kind of brain damage when I thought I saw Stuart Duncan holding a banjo in his lap. But, I didn't, because, I did! Because, he did! shocked

The guy is one of the most brilliant fiddlers of all time, I never had any inclination he played banjo. Fiddlers oftentimes double as mandolinists, but not banjo!

In any event, this looks like it will be a great album. I can't wait to listen to it's entirety.

Thanks for posting, Tubbie! thumb

Get the deluxe album. It has videos of most (if not all) of the tracks plus chats etc. There's one in particular where they talked about "String" Theory. You'll enjoy it!

I like it, Ralphiano. smile

Three versions of the same song, "Alfonsina y el mar", a song written and sung by Argentinians, famous in all the Spanish speaking world, and I believe that a bit famous in the whole world. When I joined the choir, I set myself the challenge to be able to sing it because I didn't have enough range for it when I started. laugh

Mercedes Sosa , which is the original we all know.

A Soprano version I found some time ago and like very much.

This is the last one I've found so I am enjoying it new. smile
