Hello, Thanks to the advice from this forum, I just bought Roland Gaia as my first synth. It sounds decent, and is a lot of fun. The only issue that I am having right now is that I can't seem to play more than one note at a time. The tech spec states that Roland Gaia has 64 notes polyphony, so I don't know what the issue is. Please help a young and lost soul

Make sure the MONO button is not lit.
If it is, it will only play monophonically.

Here's a link to the SoundOnSound review of the GAIA http://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/roland-gaia-sh01MONO is a desirable setting for certain patches, like basses and leads. Particularly if you like to use the guitar-like tapping techniques where you hold a notes and whatever notes you hit next (when released) return to the note you're holding. Anyway, the GAIA has a MONO button on the front face. Turn it off.

lol - nice Jay. Still loving on your JD-Xa? Or thinking you might swap it for the System-8?

No swap. Never. I love that board too much.
The SYSTEM-8 will be added....maybe the TR-09 too....

An 8 voice ACB Modelled Jupiter 8? Along with SYSTEM-8 natively and JUNO-106 later on? Polyphonic sequencer, and CV + Gate outs too.
Plus I hear the SH-101, SH-2, System-100, and Pro-Mars from the SYSTEM-1 will be ported over.
Who knows what else might happen. Jupiter 4 or 6 maybe? Alpha Juno? ACB is awesome technology. This will make a fine addition to the synth rig of Synthyness.

Thank you everyone for quick answers! I have to admit that I am rather ashamed. I should have read the manual before I posted this question. Lessons learned!

I happened to discover the mono setting on my piano today too, and wondered what the heck it was good for. Thanks for the context Messers. Fudd and Roland!

PmFJI --
The "mono" setting on the piano has no relationship to the "mono" setting on a synth voice.

Correct Charles...
That turns off the stereo image on the output or on the voice.
