Shubertslieder,

congrats on the SK. I had a chance to play a 10 year old SK7 and fell in love with it. Someday I might be able to get a Shigeru. Actually, now that I've been on this site I've learned about so many more makes that I would have to try out at least at half dozen or more but a Shigeru would certainly be at the top of my list. Right now, I'm enjoying the RX3, what a treat.

More to the point. There's a link on this site to the piano store. Check out their gift section for some ideas. Now, my gift idea would be a statue of the RCA Victrola dog! I have 2 of them, both gifts. You can probably see them on the fireplace mantel in one of my posts with pictures (https://www.pianoworld.com/forum/ubb...M-180%20AND%20KAWAI%20R.html#Post2088105). They are flanking the lucite hour glass (another gift idea?)

I don't know where to get the statues, probably have to google them but I think they're very cool! Enjoy the SK........blob

Just read blog. Buffing compound - are you kidding me? I have a glossy black car without a single swirl. Would NEVER use a buffing compound on it. Maybe an old car with a horrible finish, but only by someone who knows how to use it.

I agree with other posters - when you used the different compounds, you voided your warranty. Hope for your sake no, but be prepared. (Also have a feeling that the blogger is not going to be happy no matter what. But just my opinion.)

The harangue shows up regularly in the forums. You have come to the same conclusion as many of us.

Hello I'm back again. I have to apologize if I misled some of you that I was the OP.

My keyboard-damaged SK2 got replaced and the new one is good. I'm sorry that I'm not going to dispel your doubts one by one, for I don't really want to recollect all those painful experiences. I've also retired "that" blog.

To be more relevant to this thread, my point is: Besides all the suggestions above about new-out-of-the-box vs floor sample, a floor sample could run into some problem that we never imagined - mine was an example. Thorough checking is needed on the instrument's arrival. Reject it if any problem is spotted. (Maybe culture differences have something to do with it: in some countries you just need to be a bit more defensive.)

I have to say that SK pianos are really nice. Buying a fresh one out of the box is safe, because SK's quality control seems to be very consistent. Differences between pianos are minimal, and since "a unique visit" awaits you, the MPA should make it perfect for you.

I'm glad to hear your issues were ultimately resolved. In the case of a good player with discerning senses, I wholeheartedly disagree with your statement above, though.

Hi I know this is an old post, but I have just completed my purchase journey with an SK3 in the end! I don't see the point of travelling all the way to Japan, which the shipping will play a part of the piano loose tune and still need it to be peeped here locally!

I hope you have end up something you live!

I believe a Kawai technician will visit your residence for final prep (not peep). Congrats on the SK3! Fantastic piano!
