Hello folks, I came across this Estey grand the other day with unusual wippens. The previous tech stole the wippen from note A0, probably to serve as a replacement for a broken one in the more commonly played area. Owner wants to try and get the note working again. I said I'd look and ask around, but didn't give him any false hope. I know it's a long shot, but does anyone have any spares that they might have lying around? Or would you know some piano parts hoarder that might? Piano is Estey model grand, serial #25722, circa 1899. Thanks in advance, Chris

I can't help you, but I am intrigued by that wippen. So the extra piece serves as both knuckle and repetition lever? The shank has no knuckle? - just a wooden cam-like knob?
I can see why it didn't catch on - yet another moving part.

You may also talk to someone who does parts duplication. The only one I know of is Joe Garrett. Apologies if I'm stating the obvious, it is of course cheaper if you can find an existing one...

You might also consider replacing the shank, as well, so that a conventional wippen could be used.

I can duplicate the part if you can get one sent out to me. If the client is willing to go without two notes for a week or so

Good to know, Phil. I've broadcast this request to all the usual piano tech outlets, and if I don't get a response for an in-kind part, I'll certainly let my client know that duplication is an option.

Phil and all, A piano tech nearby came through with some wippens that look like a pretty good match. I think I got very lucky. Thanks for your help.

Looks good! Definitely more economical than having them duplicated!
