After using ForScore to display my sheet music for at least the past year, I just discovered that it generates it's own piano sounds when the iPad is hooked to my DP via MIDI.

I usually DON'T have the iPad connected to my DP. But today I bought a piano app for iPad and hooked it up. It turned out that, when I had both the piano app loaded AND ForScore loaded, it sounded like two pianos playing. So I disabled the piano app to just have ForScore loaded and, sure enough, I was generating piano sounds (relatively quietly) thru ForScore - something I don't want to do.

So, how do I disable that piano sound in ForScore? Can someone help me out?

Thanks.

I don't use ForScore, but a quick Google brought up the following:

"Since forScore already includes a software instrument, the piano keyboard, it can fulfill that role and play notes as you use your MIDI device. Of course, your device may already produce sounds or you may have a different synthesizer you’d prefer to use. In that case, just open the MIDI section of forScore’s settings panel and uncheck the “Synthesizer” option. You can also disable the ability to send commands or receive shortcuts here if needed."

Hope it helps.

Touch the upper right hand corner of the score to open the 'edit this score' (Tools) button. Select 'Settings' at the very bottom', select 'MIDI', then deselect the desired options.

Well, that was buried pretty deeply in the menus and wasn't too intuitive, IMO. So, thanks a lot, guys! I never would have found it. smile

I would recommend that you download the user manual. It is extensive, and provides information on a vast array of useful functions such as pre-formed stamps (dynamic markings for example) and user made stamps, and some functions that could be useful in certain circumstances, for example automatic page turning as you play.
