About a year ago I started to organise piano parties in Leiden. I started with once every three months, because of the enthusiastic reactions I doubled it to once every six weeks.
From January 2017 I will organise a party every month.
Normally there are 8 to 12 participants.

Well, I speak German decently, and could probably figure out Dutch, but sadly I am in the US, but I want to give you praise for having such parties, as that sounds like a great idea, and a whole lot of fun and a chance to meet new people!

Hi Peter, my husband works near Leiden but unfortunately he only plays the saxophone.
I usually spend there 3-4 weeks every year in August, but my Dutch is really basic and my piano ability far from great crazy
But I will consider your offer for next August!

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a piano party?

I live nearby, so I might join.

A piano party is an informal meeting where we play for each other.
For beginners and more advanced players. Mistakes are allowed and everyone gets applause.
Then we have a drink and (mostly) talk about playing the piano.
Next party is Sunday January 28, but I think that party is full. A lot of people want to come because we will play on a restored Erard from 1927. The next party is in February in the music school on the Rapenburg in Leiden.
The piano parties are free, I ask about three euro for the drinks and a snack.

I made a mistake in the email-address in the original post.
The correct address is:
pianogroepleiden@gmail.com (not gamil.com)

Hi Peter, I am a member of the pianogroep Nieuwegein. I understood that you had contact with the board a year or so ago. Suddenly the penny dropped and you are that guy. smile Congratulations on getting this going. I would like to attend one time when I have the time.
Would it be a good idea to have some piano party involving the two pianogroups? Just an idea!

I'm from Eindhoven and am also thinking of starting something like this. But never put in time to get it going. I always enjoy the parties in Nieuwegein.
