as a potential purchaser - was hoping to look at the manual to gleam more about the features - can't find one online anywhere ?

The FP-90 Instrument is released but the manual isn't. Odd.

That probably means that the paper manual contains ALL the modes of operation and sound / MIDI lists etc.and there is no PDF online for this model.
Which is good - though it may be quite a thick tome - AP adjustable parameters are as comprehensive as those on the RD800 and that's quite list.

They'll put it up on the Roland site when they can be bothered.

Oh Crikey! Ignore last post - it was for the F90 whatever that is.

Prior to the FP-90 I had a Casio CDP-100. So the FP-90 is a great upgrade over that Casio!

Have not tried any of the other pianos in your list so I can't compare.

The speakers on the FP-90 are loud and definitely have a lot of bass when needed.

I did consider the ES8 but the fact that the FP-90 is newly released, with the latest PHA50 action and latest supernatural modelling (for the pianos) is the reason I bought it.

My understanding is that it's basically the LX-17 but in a portable format. The LX-17 gets good reviews, but of course it has a better speaker setup than the FP-90.

If you have the capabilities please do a video recording of the 85 presets on the FP-90! I'll give ya a nickel!

Do you have a FP-90?

trying to purchase a setup that works both well for me - and for the rest of the family

is there any reason why the following would not work please:

FP-90 connected to PC via USB - for "me" so to speak - running Cubase with Omnisphere 2 and Pianoteq

if I want to use it - boot up PC - turn down volume on FP-90 to zero, and can use the FP-90 as a midi controller

if family want to use just the piano - don't need the PC on, just turn up the FP-90 volume and you're good ?

any info available online on the Midi capabilities of the FP-90 - can it output different zones to different midi channels etc?

had a go with a whole set of digital Pianos today, RD-800, V-Piano, Nords, CP4, CP40, ES8, Casios, Yamaha 115, 225, ES100

unfortunately no FP-90 or FP-30

whilst the ES8 really stood out action wise to me out of those tested - but here in UK after current price rises the Roland - newest and latest is only around £150 more than the ES8 - so it is really tempting

Shop near me still has a bargain basement FP80 floor model. Rather think the 90 won`t appear `till that`s gone . . . .

What you described re Pianoteq operation, and DP voice is what I do with my fp50. Works well. Not sure if I could put the midi source operation on a registration, rather think not . .

Here in the USA, the ES8 is $200 more, and the Kawai custom stand and pedalboard are more too.

Kawai makes a great action, and if the ES8 were less than the FP90, I might have bought it instead.

I do. I found a thread on here with a single user recommendation for the LX-17, I believe, but I was hoping to get more preferences to audition.

Just for the record, my boyfriend and I were lucky enough to audition a number of keyboards from Korg, Kawai, Yamaha, and Roland. IMO the ES8 and FP-90 are very similar in terms of action. I slightly preferred the FP-90, and he slightly preferred the ES8. They're so similar that it just comes down to player preference, and you'll simply have to try them out to choose between the two. No amount of reading forum impressions will help you pick, I'm afraid. The alternative take is that both feel great, if you're not able to audition them. Both felt more realistic than anything Yamaha had in this price range. And although Korg's RH3 is an okay keybed (a bit too heavy for my taste), the sound of the ES8 and FP-90 were superior to the SV-1.

Just giving my two cents.
