Hello Group,

Well, it has arrived. After shopping, I finally found my piano.

I have been playing on a Steinway professional upright (model 1098) since 1973. During the late 80's, when I was playing and performing regularly, I looked at purchasing a grand. Unfortunately life through me a couple of curve balls, and I struck out. Well, recently I inherited a Sohmer cupid grand that had been restored in the 90's. Both it and my Steinway were needing attention, so I set out to find a good used piano to trade. I remember being impressed with the Kimball Viennese edition back in the 80's, so I looked at a couple used ones along with Kawai, Yamaha, and Young Chang. I chose this one and will leave the reasons open for discussion if someone is interested.

The only flaw in this lightly used piano is the logo is missing off the fall board. If anyone can direct me to a source for a replacement I would really appreciate it.

Since my playing has been almost dormant for the last 10 years, I'll post playing post till I develop a little more.

Thanks Just Steven,

This is a decal, which is probably better then nothing, but the original is an applied metal applique I think.

I doubt you will be able to find the brass inlay. You might consider mixing brass powder in clear epoxy. Spread it on, wipe off the excess, and let it set.

Is there any trace on the fallboard of where the inlay was? If not, the wood may have been sanded down. As a watch maker, perhaps you'd be able to make one out of sheet brass -- a labor of love, very time consuming....

Lol! I might have to put one on my DP! wink

The true artist is not proud: he unfortunately sees that art has no limits; he feels darkly how far he is from the goal, and though he may be admired by others, he is sad not to have reached that point to which his better genius only appears as a distant, guiding sun.
