So I'm either getting a Yamaha clp535 or a kawai cn35 (will be looking at cn37 when it's released too). Was looking at the Casio AP700 but no shop around here seems to have one I can try out. I've tried them both out and like them both but I feel the keys on the 535 are really heavy for some reason. Most acoustic pianos I've played, both grand and upright, feel more like the kawai in in terms of key weight. It may be because the acoustic pianos I've played are quite old? Maybe I just need more practice with weighted keys?
What do you guys think?
Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks.

Just search the forum for key weight or touchweight - plenty of stories told ^^ But basically there is an ideal/standard weight between 50 and 65 grammes (heavy) on most (grand) pianos. Any lighter and someone playing on such a light key will have trouble playing anything else. Too heavy, and a novice player can easily develop serious problems physically in regards to tendons etc though.

When you test pianos out there, be sure to check their settings - sometimes other people may have fiddled with things like their touch settings, adding a sense of weight to the action..

And go and try a Roland HP series wink

It best to try the action first without any sound. The touch settings can fool us into thinking the touch is lighter or heavier.

It wouldn't hurt to reset the keyboard to its default setting ... a hard reset.
