Talking about new or relatively new pianos...I don't get a chance to see all the pianos that many of you have access to, so I'm kinda envious.
One that I would sure like to give a test drive is a Fandrich & Sons with the Fandrich action.
What have you never seen or played, that you would love to give a test drive?

I live around 2 miles from Piano Row in NYC. Of the 22 Performance Grade Pianos in the PB, the only grands I have not played are Charles Walter, Haessler, August Forster, and Schulze Pollmann.

The only "high end" piano I have played on was a Steinway (actually two as I got to play on a B and D) I really want to try a Yamaha CFX, and I sure would not say no to fazioli. I also really want to try an old Errard but those things are so hard to find and often behind glass...
I now have a signature.

I've never played a Sauter or a Fazioli. I'm itching to try a Sauter Omega!

Jolly, Great thread. When visiting homes of composers that have now been made into museums I am always itching to play their instruments but I have yet to be able to do so.. There is usually one of the pianos they owned on display. Like Beethoven's piano in Vienna: Or Haydn's: You get the idea.

Beethoven and Haydn must have had extraordinary dexterity to play properly under those glass covers on the keys!

I've learned that when it comes to high-end pianos, there is no limit to how high they can go. Hence, the very rare and highest-end pianos are reserved only for the most elite and wealthy among us.
With that said, I have played a few well prepped Steinways (O, B, & D). There are many high-end brands I have not played. But my Yamaha C7 satisfies my desires for a very fine piano and all the others I've played didn't seem head and shoulders better than my C7. Better, yes, but not by much.
Just my .02.

Never played a new Everett, Albert Weber, JP Pramberger Platinum. Have been fortunate enough to play every other brand listed on the Piano Buyer "map of the market", as well as most of the ones that have recently disappeared from our market, or changed names.
Never tried a Pfeiffer, or some of the non-US made extremely limited production "exotics" like the Phoenix pianos. Oh yeah, that Chernobieff thing, either...

The only high-end piano I've ever played is Steinway. But I think because I listened to a lot of Richter recordings growing up, my default "piano" sound is probably a CFIII. I believe that was his instrument of choice.
I've had a lot of fun playing all the historical simulations in Pianoteq. Many of them are actually great for blues and jazz.

I haven't played a Fazioli nor a Charles Walter grand, and I would love to play both. I have played pretty much everything else mentioned among these threads on the forum, though.
There is a museum around here that I visited with some undergrads, and I got to play all the period-replica and actual period pianos. That was fun. I was amazed at how incredibly difficult it was to play "Chopin's piano."
The best part is that the museum just had a brand new, dual-manual French harpsichord delivered, and it had only been on the display floor for one day after being prepped. They invited me to play it, but they wouldn't let anyone else touch it.
It was the most amazing musical instrument I had ever played. The sheer volume of coupling the registers together was almost deafening. And the control you had--I never though "control" and "harpsichord" would be in the same sentence. It was so easy to play. I will never, ever forget it. I have wanted one ever since, but I believe the price tag, even 20 years ago, was well over $40k for that thing, so never happening for me.

There are many pianos I have never played, and probably never will..... but the one I lust after playing is a Pleyel.

The only high end piano I've ever been able to spend any time on was a Kawai EX. What a nice piano. The touch and the bass were both great.

Funny, you mention two that I want to try. I bought an old Baldwin service manual online a while back, and Chernobieff was the seller. That brought his work up on my radar, so I'd kinda like to try one of those out. The other is the Pfieffer! I know I've played one of their uprights, but I don't think I've ever played a grand, and lately I've been more and more intrigued. They're built in the city where I lived as a kid (Stuttgart).

Call me crazy... this may not be what Jolly is looking for, but I'd kinda like to play a piano that I built myself. Since I've never built a piano, it definitely fits the "I never played one," part, and I probably won't ever build one, so also fits the "I probably never will."
