Darn! I meant to buy the sheet music for Philip Glass Etude No 16, and somehow accidentally bought No 12 instead. It's takes a while to get going - skip to about 2:25. What do you reckon?

It seems like a good warm-up exercise and could be modulated through all 12 keys.

Will do some R&B for a while. Give the classical a break.

Ha! I'll be happy if I can just press the right keys!

Looking forward hearing it from you on the next recital!

Why does Namekawa stop after 2 minutes? I imagine it goes on like that for at least another 7 minutes?

Reminds me of an old joke: How do you tell the difference between the Irish fiddle tunes?

By their titles...

She's awful with the pedal. Kept trying to pedal with her heel, and missed every time!

All seriousness aside, though, I really enjoyed listening and watching her play. thumb

For those with lots more experience than me, are things titled "etudes" always composed with a teaching purpose? I ask because this was quite an exciting and attractive piece, that, to my untrained thinking, could easily have been composed for the purpose of entertaining listeners.

Also, is this typical of Glass' music? I had not listened to his music before, but, I really liked it.

Go, Cathryn, go!

I say be careful working on that. Looks like it could potentially be problematic for tension issues. But I bet you could nail down the slow-motion hair flip. wink

That piece is absolutely characteristic of Glass' music.

@Morodienne, onto it, I'm already practicing the slo-mo flip. By the time I've got the piece down I reckon my hair should be long enough (it's currently about half an inch).
