I just found a video from PianoCraft, the folks from whom I bought my piano. I'm still loving my PianoCraft Steinway piano after six years. My technician loves it too. Watching the video makes me want to stop by the shop. Sadly, my current job doesn't have me headed to the East coast as much as I would like. I love the smells and feel of a piano shop like this one. The video is soft core adoration of pianos - love it.

There's no question PianoCraft did an outstanding job on this 9' concert. Luckily the discussion never came up if it is "as good" or "better" as a new one. Some piano are clearly beyond this type discussion. Norbert

Whether a piano is as good or better than a new one is a difficult thing to determine. I feel I have made new pianos better than they were when they were new!

I enjoyed the video and loved the sound of the refinished Steinway. I have visited Dumbarton Oaks gardens but I don't remember seeing a piano there!

Really beautifully produced video, Keith. The piano sounds good and the video was done by a reall pro. Kudos!

I just sent this info to someone who was asking about the video in a PM and I thought it might be of interest to those reading this thread:
The video was done by Dumbarton Oaks which is part of Harvard University, who commissioned the rebuild. They are restoring much of their facility and documenting many parts of the process. This is the Dumbarton Oaks of Stravinsky's concerto and the piano is in the room in which the United Nations were conceptualized. Dumbarton Oaks currently is a museum, research facility and artist colony.
Also, the piano is the concert instrument for their very fine concert series.

Dumbarton Oaks is part of Harvard University, but it's located in Washington DC (Georgetown). The facility and adjoining grounds are pretty nice. There's also a nearby park with the same name.

Thanks for that clarification. I guess everyone doesn't just know Dumbarton Oaks outside of DC I think the adjoining grounds are pretty spectacular when in bloom especially!

I think the adjoining grounds are pretty spectacular when in bloom especially! Definitely! There are number of neat little places around town, and this is definitely one of them. 😃
