Sigh...two dampers are sticking up on our new piano. One has now been fixed twice in about two weeks - the problem keeps coming back. The other , I think, just started to stick. Is this sort of thing common?
They both stick in the up position, although not always. Pedaling will cause them to unstick.

It's pretty common. I had several sticky dampers on my new piano. When I posted about it here I remember the techs commenting that it's better for them to be too tight than too loose.

It's an easy fix. Just let the tech know.

It doesn't sound like guide rail bushings in that you have isolated dampers sticking and your pedaling will cause them to unstick. I'm willing to bet it's a kink in the damper wire or individual damper regulation. Dampers on a Steinway B are more difficult and inconsistent in regulation and dampening issues than other Steinway mdls. Do you use your sostenuto pedal regularly ? Two trips and still sticking?
