Hi -

I'm coming back to playing piano after many, many years of not touching the instrument. I happened to stop by at a music store and they are selling Currier pianos for $400.00, free delivery.
I'm not looking for a high end piano, but just an instrument to enjoy and get back to basics. Four hundred dollars is a lot of money for me, but on the other hand, I'd love to play music again.
I'd appreciate any opinions out there regarding Currier pianos.
Thanks for reading.

$400 for an acoustic piano? I think should run, far far away from that one. For that price range, maybe you should look in digital pianos. I think there are some 88-key models out there for not too much more than that.

Thanks - I'll look around for some more instruments out there.

$400 doesn't sound all that low for an acoustic. I got two Baldwin Hamiltons a few months ago for a total of $349. Both of them play fairly well, although one (the free one) has a couple notes that stick occasionally but they should be inexpensive / easy to fix whenever I get around to it. (Also they don't consistenly stick - I can still often use them.)

Curriers were not very good at best, but there were some made with something they called the Strataphonic String Panel, instead of a cast plate. I ran across one once. It would not hold a tuning at all.
This is probably better.
Or this.
Or this.

I have not seen any of these pianos, but they are just to indicate that there are a lot of pianos out there in your price range. Just remember the less money you want to spend, the more legwork you have to do.
