Hello, I have a Grotrian-Steinweg upright and was trying to find some info on its value for my Mom, Its a Grotrian-Steinweg,it has a unique shape for an upright and I haven't been able to find much, if anything on it.. it has a full-size, U-shaped, cast-iron frame. and radial-braced back construction. Model # 110, I believe it was manufactured sometime btw. 1950-1960, according to the serial number. If anyone could tell me anything I would greatly appreciate it, thanks?

Hi Citygurl,

That looks like a unique 110! I have seen only one other Grotrian of that size and it did not have the design of yours. Was the piano upholstered in this manner when new? (I know this is not the original fabric, I was just curious if this was added on at some point).

My advice is to have the piano examined by a local technician to see what kind of shape the piano is truly in - then go from there.

Where are you located? We may be able to give additional pointers based on your location.

All the best,

Thank you for your help! I'm not sure if the upholster was original when new, my cousin left the piano to my Mom when she passed and didn't say much about it other then she was offered $25,000. for it at one time, however I'm not sure how accurate that is or if that is even a reasonable amount to pay for a piano?
oh btw we live in Louisiana.

I have seen two of the same model in Sweden. But then Grotrian Steinwegs are quite common here.
