I liked everything about the RX2, the sound, the touch etc..

why does it have to look so bad?? Compared to the yamaha c2 which looks like a hot girl , the kawaii looks like a normal looking girl.

i know personality counts, but im gonna put this in the middle of my living room for maybe 10+ years, i probably want her to look as pretty as possible

Call me shallow , i find it hard to make the final decision due to the looks of the rx2.

That's fine. Keep the old C2, or buy a new C2.

All this talk about tone and touch reigning supreme... there are limits. I like my piano's sound and touch just fine, but I wouldn't have acquired it had it been covered in Barney purple and green polka dots.

Are you comparing the C2 to an RX-2 or an RX-2C Conservatory that has a somewhat less ornate cabinet style?

I think that both the C2 and the RX-2 look beautiful.

Beautiful objects immediately catch our attention, but that doesn't guarantee that they will be more satisfying in the long run.

Tone, touch, appearance, then price. The Kawai scores high in the two most important long term categories. The Yamaha is more appealing to look at. Which is more important to you, playing or looking?

Of course if the Kawai is a real ugger bugger, it's time to renew your search.

Why is any piano ugly, they all share the basic shape, large and curvaceous....I'm not saying large and curvaceous women are ugly, they are attractive in their own ways, but society would definitely say large and curvaceous was far from hot.....and besides the hotter the girl, the more likely she is to cheat.

Nope. They look like two almost identical shiny mass produced consumer products to me.

Not that I'm not sensitive to looks, but those pictures aren't making a case. Perhaps the OP needs a good lighting designer to highlight the parts of the case that work right for him. Or a slight film of vaseline on his glasses, like they do on portrait lenses to make (us) old ladies look a little better.

Have a look at the new RX-2H. It replaces the regular RX-2 and is a bit more attractive if that is upmost importance to you inlcuding a nice gold rope around the plate. Sorry, you friends and neighbors won't be able to see the gold rope upon entrance to the middle of your living room. There are other improvements as well.

C2 and RX2 does look different in real life. C2 just looks more attractive than the RX2. RX2 is more rough looking. C2 looks more high class.

The pereception of roughness will be difficult to overcome. Are there other pianos which you could audition?

Those piano pictures look virtually identical. Is this like Ford and Chevy where from a distance the cars look the same?

Besides, if you want a pretty piano either get an artcase piano or go for something pre WWII (or even Pre WWI).

I wonder exactly which characteristics are supposed to 'look rough?' Can you quantify? I know that beauty is supposedly in the eye of the beholder, but I'm curious what exactly is it that seems rough to you on the one piano compared to the other.

for example,
the rx2 give me a the same feeling when i look into the interior of a honda as compared to c2 which feels like a audi interior.

not a huge difference, but one feels more upscale compared the other to me.

Forget the C2. Maybe you should just buy a Audi and put it on display in your living room instead- all shiny and nicely waxed. Ten years is indeed a long time to be staring at something you don't like at least this one you can drive out of the house when you get tired of it. Stick a piano bench in front of it- people will be amazed!

sry alleon but I have to say when I look at audi interior I always say who the heck design this interior, ugly ( with the exception of A8, S8 and the new hottie )

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. If you think C2 is better looking , go buy it.

I am actually looking at C3 vs RX3, honestly i don't care much about the look. I do prefer the plate color of the C series though.

and If you are trying to get ppl to help convince yourself that C series is better looking than RX series, I think you'll fail on this forum
