I don't hear much on this board about him, but he is a phenomenal pianist, especially in Schubert and Schumann repertoire, Mozart as well. What a master of tone and touch. Any other admirers on this board?

actually, i went to his all Beethoven concerti concerts about 2 years ago(?), and really liked his playing. i like his tone and interpretations of Beethoven, although i read some stupid critics making some negative comments on his playing on newspaper. i think he's way better than Uchida (whom i heard live as well) playing Beethoven!

Yes! Lupu's Beethoven Concerti box set with Mehta is a cherished item in my CD collection.

His Mozart Concerto performance in the Great Mozart Piano Concerti DVD series is unbeatable, IMHO.

His Brahms solo piano works CD has been mentioned numerous times here on this board with probably the highest ever recommendation.

His Grieg Piano Concerto on GPTTC series is another worthy recording against any other recording of this loved piece. The list simply goes on and on ...

I've been wanting to hear him for the longest time -- and we're finally going to do that in January! Mozart No. 20 at Davies Symphony Hall.

The New Yorker reviewed some Carnegie Hall recitals last year -- Lupu got a rave, as usual. smile

I have seen him perform with the Philadelphia Orchestra and I also have several of his Schubert CDs. You can certainly count me among his admirers.

I have his Schubert Impromptus - which leave me cold.

But I love his recordings of the late piano music of Brahms - among the best there are in my opinion for what it is worth.

I absolutely love what I've heard of him, and I plan on seeing him in January at Symphony Hall-- He'll be playing Mozart 20.
