Any comments on him and the Beatles contribution to music? The Beatles are still one band that I can still listen to and enjoy there music. I realize that it is not Bach or Beethoven ext.. which I am currently studing with my piano teacher, but I also am still able to apreaciate some of the Beatles songs, even though they were not "Piece's" as has already been discused on this forum.

Considering that they are such " groundbreakers" in their type of music, i appreciate their music very much. Even if you don't like their music, you have to appreciate their ability to spread their talent throughout the world in such a short time, and to have it last for so long! I wish classical piano would make such a revolution these days as the beatles made to rock music in their day!

I ran across this a year or so ago. A guy named Alan Pollack published notes on the Internet regarding the chord structures of all the Beatles music... I found it really fascinating and you might find it interesting as well.

WELL!!!! You mean to tell me that only two very brave people had enough nerve to comment on "The Beatles" . Man... what a bunch of "Classical Snobs" you all are on this forum!!! BUT... WAIT A SECOND, before you get all ticked off by my comment, I must say that I myself am slowly turning into one myself it seams. It's just that when I compare there music or anything else, to say Chopin or Bach, which I am studding now, there really is no comparison that I can make. I still like their music though, but when I am driving in my car, or studding for a test, it is only classical tapes that I ever listen to. I don't know why, it is just so much more relaxing for me to listen to and more meaningful to me as well.
Thanks for the two very brave people who stood up against the multitudes of people and took the chance of being "stoned to death" but did so anyway, for the sake of there contribution to music, and memories of a forgotten past.

Allen,

Me thinks thou dost protest too much!

Speaking for myself, I like the Beatles, it's just that I couldn't think of anything to contribute.

I will now say, however, that I never realized that the song "My Sweet Lord" was a George Harrison. I've always loved that melody very much and used to enjoy it when it came on the radio when I was a teenager.

I would almost venture to say that of all the Beatles writing, I think my favorites are George Harrison's. I've never been very much into Paul's music, John's was nice, but George's melodies have consistently pleased me.
