Happy Holidays...the best description I've heard for this is Messaien meets Handel, haha.

Even if it's a fake (which I suspect it HAS to be) it's DAMN funny.

It's gotta be fake, but it is damn funny.

(The choir is WAY too good to have an organist that bad, plus an organist bad enough to miss a plagal cadence in D major would never have been able to handle the 16th notes.)

I posted this back in September. It's worth doing one more time.

don't laugh too hard... I've done some pretty awful things to our organ.

I'm not so sure. If it was contrived, its really not that clever or inspired a prank. But it WAS hilarious.

Reminds my friends wedding I went to. They had some "organist" friend of theirs do the music. He hit obnoxious clinkers thru the whole ceremony. The worst of which was in Pachelbel's Canon, which was noticeable to even the most musically illiterate of guests.

I was born the year Glenn Gould stop playing concerts. Coincidence?

I saw quite a funny incedent where a clarinettist was told to play "exactly by the score", and she did - in other words she and the pianist were playing a tone apart...

I shouldn't say this:

There was a famous pianist who last year played a difficult concerto in a town where I know several of the players personally.

The pianist, who had a long and distinguished career, is past his prime, and, being a shadow of his former self, played poorly.

After the first rehearsal, the brass section had a nickname for him: "Mittens."

I kind of feel for him...
Every band I've played with are ALL naturally hostile to the pianist except those who already knew me. It's really sad. They can be the biggest bunch of collective ***holes sometimes. You just have to ignore them.
