Very nice, how long did it take you to decide on that one and when did you get it? I hope those windows open up so everyone can enjoy.

Thanks for the compliments guys, but I am really humbled by the nice photos of your pianos and homes. Trust me when I say my own pictures are quite flattering to my piano and the room (home).

I took forever in deciding what to get (about 6 months). I initially only budgeted for 10k!!

We got our new Schimmel today, so I have to put a few pictures here (and I think it sounds even better than it looks!). It shows that a 6' grand can fit in a 1100 s.f. condo!

Alex,
That is a very beautiful piano. I like the elegant rope detail. Classy.

Question- I see a reflection of something from the music desk, is that another grand or the "hidden" Playboy Bunny Logo? wink

Best regards,
fingers

Playing piano at age 2, it was thought that I was some sort of idiot-savant. As it turns out, I'm just an idiot.

Actually, it's a good thing I couldn't post my piano pic. There is no way it would measure up to those last two instruments. They are pretty darn nice if I do say so myself.

After reading through recommendations on this forum, I went to visit Cunningham Piano in Philadelphia and it was the best experience ever. Rich Galasinni is an abolute joy to work with.

It's not your typical pump and dump piano operation. No shoddy salesman. Plan to spend a few hours if you are gonna go there because you'll have a fabulous time and lose track of time. Make sure you ask to tour the factory and look for this _monster_ Steinway D they are working on.

After my visit to Cunningham, I finally get to join the piano club like you guys. After playing several pianos, the one pictured below captured me and I couldn't stay away from it. I played Estonias and those are very, very impressive. I played my first Mason and Hamlin and the bass was what everyone siad of it but when all was said and done, this rebuilt Steinway was a keeper. I'm surprised because I was looking to get a Mason and Hamlin but after playing this instrument I was done.

It's a rosewood Steinway B made in 1894 and recently rebuilt with nice heavy action (love those).

I'll post some audio/video of it when I get a chance. It is very expressive and has a lovely tone.

That's a beauty. I love the music stand and the legs on the piano. Congratulations.

What a CLASSY PIANO!

and...

What fretwork on the music desk! Guess we can't expect too many of those details nowadays. ;-)

Enjoy your new beauty!

Beautiful piano. You might want to get some shades on the doors and windows before the sun bleaches that awesome rosewood finish.

Beautiful steinway - FIngers has a nearly identical piano - a year, younger, and in ebony, but those same beautiful legs and that music desk.

If yours plays and sounds anything like his, I know why you were hooked.

Alex - I love the Bluthner. When I was shopping for a piano I never even tried them, since at the time they didn't have a dealer in NYC (i bought maybe a month before FH got theirs in). I've since played a few and they are fabulous!

What a gem, Esteven. Pianos don't come much more gorgeous. The room it's in is most fitting, too.

Alex, I played on an old (circa 1900) Bluetner at the Fredericks Historical Piano museum. It was a perfect Debussy piano. I lack the technical knowledge to explain this, but somehow the tones melted together beautifully in a style very conducive to impressionism. I wonder if this characteristic continues in today's Bluetners.

And, Sonata, your Schimmel is exquisite. I was shopping for Schimmels once upon a time, and don't recall seeing that style. I like it much more than some of the ultra gloss, turned leggged models that seemed to prevail during my search. For some reason, the style reminds me of Pleyel.

Hey all, finally got round to uploading some pictures of my new Nordiska. They were taken on the day it was delivered and the stool hadn't come yet which is why i had to use that horrible old blue one. Hope you like it. I'm in love. 3hearts
