Orlando Gibbons 500 Post Club Member Registered: 12/14/01 Posts: 848 Loc: CA	a wonderful work, and my favorite toccata. Gould has a great recording of it, he reigns himself in rather nicely. I think all the toccatas have a common performance problem, and that is, to keep the sense of freedom and fantasy while maintaining a coherent whole. To balance the textures of fantasy, fugue, recitative, etc. whie not losing focus is the challenge, I think. _________________________ "See?! The Cliffs of Insanity!"

Her interpretation of the fuge of the Toccata is subtle and powerful, an architectual tour de force
