Not exactly a "lesson," but, say, a consultation.

I'm re-learning a contemporary piece now that I have to record in a few months, and I'm not happy with what I'm doing with it. Usually I have a pretty good sense about what to do interpretively, but this is in a rather conservative, somewhat romantic style I haven't played in a very long time, and so I would like to consult with a high-level artist who plays this style all the time.

Is this unusual? Any suggestions?

I don't see anything unusual about it, a former teacher of mine still consults her professor from doctoral studies from time to time.

You wouldn't know it, as it's unpublished. I'm working from the manuscript. I'm working with the composer, but matters of basic interpretation are left up to me. He's very happy with it, by the way, but *I* think it could be better.

Michael Sahl's "Serenades" (1994)

I like it a lot!
